Wearing purple for a cause
September 15 was Suicide awareness day
MCDS students and teachers wore purple on September 15th, 2021 to remember Suicide Awareness. Students and teachers were strong supporters, and felt it was for a good cause.
“It’s important to spread awareness around the school and wearing purple is very powerful,” Gabrielle Bassette ‘25 said. .
Surprisingly, the suicide rate in males is four times higher in the US than women. Gabrielle Bassette said she was not aware of this and she will pay attention and support males along with females.
“I would have never known because I thought it was [like] women because we’re more emotional but it’s good to know so I can [uh] help men too” Bassette said.
